Apple Watch makes US magazine cover debut with model Candice Swanepoel

Supermodel Candice Swanepoel, best known for her work as a Victoria's Secret Angel, will be the first woman to don the upcoming Apple Watch in a U.S. magazine cover shoot with the March issue of women's lifestyle magazine SELF, suggesting Apple is quickly expanding marketing efforts beyond fashion and into fitness tracking.

According to SELF, Swanepoel, who is seen above wearing an Apple Watch running the Activity app, is the first woman to be featured wearing Apple Watch on a U.S. magazine cover. The publication's March issue comes four months after supermodel Liu Wen sported the device in a Vogue China spread last October.

Lending Apple Watch to a sports-minded women's magazine is a departure from Apple's product placement advertising efforts, which have thus far focused on fashion aspects of the device.

Considering Swanepoel's athletic prowess, it was an ideal accessory for her sporty cover shoot. She told SELF, "I'm an athlete. I use every single muscle, especially my core and arms, when I pose. It's so important for me to feel strong!"

Aside from a brief overview of Apple Watch's features, with an eye on fitness tracking, the short blurb on SELF's website does not reveal new details regarding Apple's forthcoming wearable. It is unclear if the print version will have a more comprehensive look at the Watch.

SELF's online look at Apple Watch wraps up with a few hero shots of the device supplied by Apple, but the print issue promises to have a few more onsite photos.

Candice Swanepoel takes tumble at New York Fashion Week

Victoria's Secret model Candice Swanepoel took a nasty tumble on the runway at the New York Fashion Week.

She fell to the floor, grazing her arms and knees, while walking in Givenchy's spring/summer 2016 runway show on Friday night, September 11, reported Female First.

Swanepoel was offered support from audience members in the front row and made a graceful recovery, continuing to walk down the catwalk - despite sporting some cuts on her knees.

Taking to Instagram after the incident, Swanepoel, 26, said she was physically fine but had suffered a "bruised ego".

"Thank you to who ever picked me up off the runway tonight. Left with little scratches but mostly a bruised ego #ohwell (sic)"

Stars in attendance at the show included Kim Kardashian West - whose sister Kendall Jenner also walked for Givenchy - her husband Kanye West, Nicki Minaj and Ciara.

Candice Swanepoel Falls on Givenchy RUNWAY AT NYFW: IS SHE OK?

Candice Swanepoel took a tumble while walking in the Givenchy show at New York’s Fashion Week. According to Hollywood Life, the model tripped on an unlaced boot that she was wearing, and fell to the ground. The 26-year-old was helped back up on to her feet and was on her way back down the runway after giving the audience a little wave.

“Candice tumbled forward on the catwalk after losing her balance, and fell on her hands and knees. The look of panic, then pain, on her face was just awful! A chivalrous gentlemen from the front row rushed to her aid, and as she was guided to her feet she let the rest of the audience know she was A-OK.”

Candice Swanepoel is very professional and didn’t let the mishap screw up the rest of her time on the runway. Although it may have been super embarrassing (but, hey, it happens), and it undoubtedly hurt, Candice was able to keep her composure throughout. After the show, the model posted the following photo on Instagram, showing her bloody knees. Ouch!

“Thank you to who ever picked me up off the runway tonight. left with little scratches but mostly a bruised ego #ohwell,” Candace captioned the photo.

According to Mail OnlineCandice fiddled with her hair a bit and totally tried to laugh off her spill. Most people in the audience seemed more concerned with whether or not she was hurt, and it was great to see her get up and start walking again.

“She had been modelling and exquisite sheer lace dress, which flashed her underwear to the crowds – though it wouldn’t be her only embarrassment that night. The gothic gown, from Givenchy’s SS16 line, was paired with black and red strappy heels that featured an evidently dangerous open-laced detail.”

Candice Swanepoel obviously isn’t the first model to have a mishap during fashion week. Other models have lost their balance, or tripped over something on the runway. It is not always easy walking in those intricate outfits and sky high heels (believe it or not). Injuries can occur during these fashion shows, and Candace is really lucky that she did not twist her ankle, or break something. A little blood and a couple of bruises will disappear soon enough — and her bruised ego will heal over time as well.

Come Closer with Candice Swanepoel

I meet Candice Swanepoel on a dreary almost-winter evening in Manhattan, at the downtown studio where she’s wrapping up a shoot for a spring issue of the Victoria’s Secret catalog. I watch the last “look,” for which she perches on a prop bed in the middle of a concrete studio filled with various fluffy-looking items (furry pillows, pastel ottomans, etc.) and models an electric-yellow bra-and-panty set. She rolls into dozens of bed-appropriate poses, one after the next, camera flashing. In action, she’s extraordinary—professional and focused, all business, killing each shot. A dozen people right out of fashion-shoot central casting, all wearing shades of black or gray, stand by watching every move.
When the shoot ends, Swanepoel changes into civilian clothes (a loose, long-sleeve white-cotton T-shirt, tight blue jeans with gaping holes in the knees, black Nikes) and we chat for a while on a couch nearby. Later that night she is meeting up with other Angels to watch the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show prime-time broadcast on CBS: “We all watch it together and scream,” she says, conjuring an image out of a million male fantasies. “We eat popcorn and laugh at ourselves.”
